[시카고 대학 Waiting list] 공립교환학생으로 높지 않은 ACT 점수와 장학금 신청까지 한 학생의 University of Chicago 대기자 소식

안녕하세요 비지트입니다.

시카고 대학은 미국 내에서도 TOP 3에 드는 명문대로 2018년 US News & World Repoart 랭킹도 3위에 랭크되었습니다. 시카고는 SAT SUBJECT가 옵션, ACT 가 수퍼 스코어로 바뀌는 등 미래형 인재를 선발하기 위해 많은 변화를 시도하고 있는 학교입니다. 더구나, 시카고의 에세이는 타의 추종을 불허할 만큼 획기적인 질문들이 매년 나오고 있는데요, 이것 또한 매년 재학생들이 문제를 내 그 중에서 선택되는 것 또한 특이한 방법 중의 하나입니다.

이 시카고 대학에 저희 학생 중 한 명이 대기자로 합격을 받았습니다. 물론 이것은 완벽한 합격은 아니지만, 그 의미는 매우 큽니다. 미 국무성 공립교환학생으로 떠난 미국 생활 1년 8개월 만에 비지트를 만나서 단, 4개월 만에 이러한 결과를 만들어 냈기 때문입니다. 더구나 장학금까지 신청한 상태인데 대기자 합격을 준다는 것은 이 학생의 ACT 점수가 시카고가 원하는 점수가 아니었어도 지금 듣고 있는 AP 가 많지 않아도 가능했던 것은 학생과 비지트가 합심하여 준비했던 남다른 패러다임으로 노력한 결과라고 봅니다.
